First Step: Local Competitions
Selected contestants begin their quest to become Best Teen Chef at local cook-off competitions, held at each participating Art Institutes location on April 17, 2010. The first-place winner from each local cook-off competition will receive a $3,000 tuition scholarship to The Art Institutes school they represent in the competition and will advance to The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition finals.

The Big Prize: National Finals in Houston
First-place local winners will be flown, along with one parent or legal guardian, to Houston, TX, to compete in the national finals. Following an introductory reception on May 14, 2010, the competitors will face off on May 15, 2010 to compete for tuition scholarships and the coveted title of Best Teen Chef. Each finalist will prepare a meal under the watchful eyes of professional chefs, and have their creations judged on criteria including taste, presentation, and culinary techniques.

TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED*:
First place: Full-tuition scholarship
Second place: Half-tuition scholarship
Third place: Quarter-tuition scholarship

Ready To Enter?
Eligibility:
The Best Teen Chef Competition is open to high school seniors in the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec) graduating in 2010 with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

Entry Requirements:
To be eligible to enter the Competition, first submit a completed Entry & Release form by February 5, 2010 to a participating Art Institutes school offering a Culinary Arts program. The school you choose is the location you plan to attend, and will be the location you will represent if you progress in the Competition. Next, by February 26, 2010, submit to the same school a recipe in standardized recipe format (sample available at artinstitutes.edu/btc), an optional original photo of the prepared recipe, a copy of your current high school transcript, and a 250- word essay explaining why you would like to study culinary arts at one of The Art Institutes schools.

*All decisions by the Sponsor and judges are final, binding, and nondisputable in all levels of the Competition. All tuition scholarships must be used at the location the student represented in the Competition. Tuition scholarships are non-transferable. Scholarship awards are contingent upon acceptance to the chosen Art Institutes location and are awarded in the form of a tuition credit.

Deadline
All complete entries must be received by Friday, November 20, 2009 at The Art Institutes school at which you plan to enter the Competition and attend following it. A local winner will be selected from each participating school whose design will go on to represent it in the national competition. Local winners will be selected in December 2009; national winners will be announced in January 2010.
